From October 12 to 15, 2024, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Bao'an) will host a grand science and technology feast - the 90th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF). The expo, with the theme of "Innovative Technology, Smart Future", is expected to attract more than 120,000 professional visitors, with an exhibition area of nearly 200,000 square meters, bringing together nearly 4,000 brand enterprises and displaying tens of thousands of innovative products.

The holding of CMEF is not only a grand event for the medical device industry, but also a microcosm of the development of the medical industry since China's reform and opening up. Since it was first held in 1979, CMEF has gone through a 45-year history and witnessed the vigorous development of China's medical industry.

At this expo, we can see that from medical imaging to in vitro diagnosis, from medical electronics to medical optics, to hospital construction, operating rooms, disinfection and infection control, medical consumables, orthopedics and other 14 exhibition areas, almost covering the entire medical industry chain. These exhibition areas not only showcase the world's cutting-edge medical science and technology achievements, but also reflect the innovation ability of China's medical device industry.

In particular, the advent of the era of intelligent imaging has given birth to a number of world-first products, such as wireless handheld ultrasound, which is lighter than a mobile phone, and a disposable electronic ureteronephrosis endoscope with a large viewing angle and depth of field. The emergence of these innovative products not only breaks the monopoly of foreign technology, but also is a strong proof that Chinese medical imaging and medical optics companies are expected to lead the development of the global industry.

In addition, the medical robot exhibition area is also a highlight of this year's CMEF. A number of new products independently developed in China, such as four-arm laparoscopic surgical robots and orthopedic surgical assistance robots, demonstrate China's breakthroughs and innovations in the field of medical robots.

In the operating room exhibition area, we can see the development trend of "minimally invasive, intelligent and efficient". The new integrated operating room, digital hybrid operating room, and remote operating room based on 5G technology are all manifestations of medical technology progress.

In the IVD in vitro diagnostic exhibition area, we can see traditional hot track products such as biochemical diagnosis, immunodiagnosis, molecular diagnosis, as well as industry pioneer technology products such as home rapid testing, early cancer screening, biological sample storage and cold chain, wearable devices, and pathological research.

This year's CMEF closely follows the industrial policy, not only sets up a number of sub-exhibition areas, but also holds a series of sub-brand exhibitions in hot areas, providing an international platform for the global medical and health industry to integrate display, communication and cooperation.

In the international market, the "overseas fever" of Chinese medical device companies is continuing. In the first half of this year, Shenzhen's biomedical and medical device private enterprises achieved foreign trade exports of 11.85 billion yuan, accounting for more than 60%, and the export data of a number of high-end medical device products led the country. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an innovative drug in China
